Snoring is very irritating to whomever you are sharing the bed with, but there are cures and remedies. There are several cures and remedies for snoring, but one of the most popular methods of preventing snoring is the use of anti-snoring machines. The most popular anti-snoring machine is the CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure).
The CPAP machine works by delivering continuous positive air pressure in the throat to keep the airways open. This machine not only prevents snoring, it also corrects your sleep apnea. The CPAP machine has an air blower that is placed beside the bed and a mask which you fit over the nose while sleeping. The air blower blows air under considerable pressure through the nasal passage. You could adjust the pressure of the air so that your throat does not collapse. The ‘titrated pressure’ is determined by a physician following an overnight study in a sleep lab.
Another of the popular anti-snoring machines is the automatic pressure airway pressure device, also known as APAP, AutoCPAP, or AutoPAP. This machine works by automatically titrating or tuning the pressure delivered so that it is at a minimum. The pressure is determined through a breath-by-breath testing of the obstruction to the patient’s breathing. Yet another of the anti-snoring machines is the bi-level pressure machine or VPAP/BPAP which is short for variable/bi-level positive airway pressure. This machine provides EPAP or lower expiratory positive airway pressure as well as IPAP or inspiratory positive airway pressure. Positive airway pressure or PAP machines are advantageous in that they could be used at home and they are readily available, even on the Internet. Another of the anti-snoring machines that works on a completely different principle is the anti-snoring mouthpiece. This mouthpiece could be mistaken for a sports mouthpiece, the only difference being that it has a top and a bottom component that realigns your jaw as you sleep.
